The Flowering tops of the plant and
the leave are used in the production of oil which is extracted by steam
distillation. A concrete and absolute are also produced by solvent extraction
in small quantities.

A cdourless or pale yellowy-green
liquid with a sweet, nutty-herbaceous scent. It blends well with junuper,
lavender, coriander, cardomon, geranium, sandalwood, cedarwood, pine, labdanum,
jasmine, frankincense, bergamot or other citrus oils. |

Up to 75% linalyl acetate, linlol, pinene, myrcene
and phellandrene. The constituents vary according to the geographical origin
so there are several different chemotypes. |

Anticonvulsive, antidepressant, antichloristic,
antiseptic, antispasmodic, aphrodisiac, astringent, bactericidal, carminative,
cicatrizing, deoderant, digestive, emmenagogue, euphoric, hypotensive, nervine,
sedative, stomachic, tonic, uterine. |

Relaxing, rejuvenating, balancing, inspiring,
sedative, (to the nervous system), revitaliging, aphrodisiac, intoxicating,
euphoric, warming. |

Juniper, lavender, cilantro, pine, carsomon,
geranium, sandlewood, jasmine, frankincense, and citris oils.

Avoid it use during pregnancy and use cautiously
in conjunction with HRT. Alcohol should be avoided after use as the combination
induce a narcotic effect which exaggerates drunkenness. |
